Hospice Care Week
Hospice Care Week takes place from 6 - 12 October 2025. This year's theme is: hospice care is more than you think.
This years theme ‘more than you think’ highlights the work done on the wards, in the community, and in people’s homes across the UK. Hospices look after people who need palliative and end of life care day in, day out. They work tirelessly to make sure that those people are comfortable and can live well in the time they have left.
Hospice care is more than just about managing pain and symptoms on a hospice ward. It is often about providing specialist palliative care in someone’s own home, and helping them do the things that make life better.
Supporting people to do the things that someone might have once loved doing, but now struggles to because of their illness. Like going to their favourite café, seeing a sports match, taking a day trip to the beach, or getting out into their own garden.
Halton Haven Hospice
In our local hospice, Halton Haven, they believe hospice care goes far beyond medical support — it’s about dignity, comfort, and helping people live as fully as possible for as long as possible. Whether it’s offering a listening ear, outpatient services, community care, or simple moments of connection — it’s all part of what compassionate care can look like.
