Healthwatch Halton | October – December 2024

Every month, we go out into the community to hear what local people think about health and care services in Halton. Here's a look at what we did – and the difference your feedback made.

Healthwatch Halton – Listening to you

📊 Outreach and public feedback

  • 75 outreach sessions held across Halton, engaging with 1,434 people
  • 603 people shared their experiences of health and care services
  • 55 public enquiries responded to, including face-to-face, phone, email and social media
  • 12 people supported to access emergency NHS dental treatment
  • Ongoing support provided for the Cheshire & Merseyside GP Survey, with 173 local responses collected

💬 What we heard

  • Access to primary care and hospital services were the most common themes
  • Patients raised concerns about confusing signage and unclear letters at Whiston Hospital
  • Feedback led to improved signage and simplified appointment letters to help patients find their way
  • A local patient with autism was supported with reasonable adjustments at multiple hospital trusts

  • Total followers reached 4,950 across all our platforms
  • Opened new accounts on Threads and Bluesky to widen reach

🙋 Volunteers

  • Volunteers contributed over 80 hours to PLACE assessments at local NHS sites including:
    • Whiston Hospital, Warrington & Halton Hospitals, Brooker Centre, Widnes UTC and Merseycare locations
