Warrington Hospital Listening Events report - July 2025

This report looks at what patients and visitors told us about their experiences at Warrington Hospital between January and July 2025.

What people told us

We spoke with 64 patients and visitors during our visits. Most people rated their experience highly, with 93% saying their care was ‘Good’ or ‘Excellent’. Staff were consistently praised for being kind, professional, and attentive.

People described staff as “very efficient” and “always polite and respectful,” and many said they were seen quickly once at the hospital. The overall cleanliness and calm environment were also highlighted as positives.

“Everything worked at the time I arrived, which was good.” (Ophthalmology)

Recommendations

We’ve shared five key recommendations with Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust:

  1. Celebrate good practice – share examples of kind, professional care across teams.
  2. Review appointment systems – explore ways to reduce waits for specialist care.
  3. Improve accessibility – clearer signage and more practical help for people with mobility needs.
  4. Strengthen communication – reduce unnecessary letters and ensure written information is easy to access.
  5. Address parking pressures – especially around disabled bays and peak-time congestion.

Trust response

The Trust welcomed the report and confirmed that the findings will directly inform their ongoing patient-experience work.

Ali Kennah, Chief Nurse, said:

“We thank Healthwatch Halton for carrying out the Listening Events. The feedback helps us understand where improvements are needed and recognise the professionalism and kindness our staff show every day.

In response to the findings, our Patient Experience Team will review all recommendations, map them against existing workstreams, and develop any further actions required. Progress will be monitored through the Patient Experience Sub-Committee from October 2025, where Healthwatch’s continued feedback will be welcomed.”
