Weaver Vale GP Practice

Healthwatch Halton carried out an Enter and View visit to Weaver Vale Practice as part of our borough-wide programme of GP practice visits. During the visit we observed the practice environment, spoke with patients, and gathered feedback about access to appointments and experiences of care.

Overall, patient feedback was very positive, particularly from long-standing patients, with strong confidence in staff and the quality of care provided. Some practical issues were raised around online appointment availability and the visibility of key patient information.

Key highlights

  • Patients consistently praised staff as friendly, professional and well organised
  • Calm, clean and welcoming environment with good use of space and privacy
  • Positive experiences of urgent and same-day appointments when needed
  • Some patients reported difficulty booking appointments online via the NHS App
  • Limited information on the website about Jess’s Rule and what to expect when contacting the practice

Practice response
The practice responded positively to the report, welcoming the feedback and outlining actions already underway. These include reviewing appointment booking windows to reduce missed appointments, clarifying how online appointments are released, updating website information about Jess’s Rule, and continuing incremental improvements to the practice environment.
